How important is it to know your skin type?

Well, for me it is very important to know your skin type so that you know what kind of products to use and not to use. You can save a lot of money on products and you can easily find skincare products and make-ups that suits your skin type.

Now let’s find out what are those skin types are and where does your skin belong to.

 

Skin type

There are 5 Different Skin Types:
  • Dry Skin
  • Normal Skin
  • Sensitive Skin
  • Oily Skin
  • Combination Skin

Dry Skin

You have a dry skin when you feel your skin becomes tight as if your skin is too small for you. Your skin has too little moisture on it and sebum in the lower layers of your skin. Sometimes it is flaky like dandruff patches in your eyebrows and sometimes it feels tight and itchy when itis at its best.

Skin Tips  for Dry Skins

Your skin requires a regular routine of soothing and moisturizing care to keep it looking at its best. Do not use detergents, toners, and excessive use of soap.  Also, avoid sun exposures and too cold temperature. You can do these tips to keep your skin soft and supple.

TIP #1

With the use of an oil-based makeup remover, pour a little amount of it to a cotton pad and glide it over your face keep it concentrated in your eye area. Oily products are good for dry skins but do not overload your skin with it because it will irritate, and it can also swell from it.

TIP #2

Pick a creamy cleanser, leave it for a few minutes for your skin to absorb moisture from the cream. Then wipe it with cotton or towel. Do a gentle upward motion to avoid having lines and wrinkles.

TIP #3

Apply moisturizing cream to lock in moisture. If you are about to put makeup on make sure to give it a few minutes to sink in before applying the makeup.

Normal Skin

This type of skin is what I wish I had. This is the balanced skin type. It has no open pores, healthy glow, and a fine texture. So if your skin looks like what I said above I could say that you are so lucky!

Skincare Tips for Normal Skins

Even if you have the perfect skin type you still need to maintain it to keep it functioning very well. Your skin normally has a good balance of moisture and oil levels. Here are some skincare tips to help you maintain your healthy normal skin.

TIP #1

Always cleanse your face twice a day, in the morning when you makeup and at night before you sleep. Do not apply makeup on top of old makeup.

TIP #2

After washing your face with facial wash use freshening toner to make sure there is no dirt left. Dirt on your face can lead to bacteria causing pimples and blackheads.

TIP #3

Moisturize your skin gently massage your face with the moisturizing cream using your fingertips in an upward motion.

Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skins are easily irritated and also prone to redness and allergy. Its texture is usually quite fine with a tendency to be rosier than usual. Sensitive skin tends to have fine broken veins across the nose and cheeks area.

Skincare Tips for Sensitive Skins

Extra gentle products are good for your skin to keep it supple and healthy. Find those products that have hypo-allergenic and sensitive skin on it, these products are free from common irritants that can cause itchiness, dryness, and allergic reactions.

TIP #1

If you can’t find products that suit your sensitive skin, you can cleanse your skin with whole milk and moisturize with glycerin solution and rosewater.

TIP #2

To freshen up your skin without having your skin irritated, splash it with water to also remove traces of makeup removers and cleansers.

TIP #3

Moisturize your skin to prevent dryness that can make sensitive skins uncomfortable. Choose unscented moisturizers. Moisturizing can keep your skin strong and supple.

Oily Skin

My skin type! I can say that this skin type is a cursed skin type. Oily skin has, of course, an oily surface and an open pores, it has a great tendency to have pimples, blackheads, and dull appearance. This skin type is acne prone skin, the oiliness is due to overproduction of the oil substance or the sebum by the oil glands. But wait, being oily has a good side on it makes your skin look younger.

Skincare Tips for Oily Skins

The best thing to do with oily skin is to use products that gently cleanse oils from the surface and unclog pores without drying the skin.

TIP #1

Do not over clean your skin, doing so can trigger oil glands to produce more oils or sebum.

TIP #2

Use foam facial wash than ordinary soap. Facial wash won’t strip away skin moisture, but it will remove specks of dirt and oils.

TIP #3

Even oily skins need moisturizing but do not load the skin with heavy formulations it can clog your pores that again can build up oils or sebum. Leave the moisturizer on your skin for a few minutes, then pat on a clean tissue paper over your skin to remove the excess products to prevent shiny complexion.

Combination Skin

This skin type is a combination of oily and dry skin. You need to treat the areas according to its skin type. T-zone, forehead, nose, and chin tend to be oily, you have to treat it like oily skins. Then the dry parts should be flaky and dry from the lackingness of moistures, you should treat it like dry skins.

Skincare Tips for Combination Skins

To determine which areas are oily or dry get a clean tissue paper and pat it over your face. You need a dual approach on each area to avoid drying over dry areas and provoke oils or sebum on oily areas.

TIP #1

Use oil-based makeup remover on the dry skin areas, then wash the rest with cool water to rinse excess oils or sebum.

TIP #2

Use foaming facial wash in the morning and in the evening use a cream cleanser.

TIP #3

Moisture every day! it will give your skin the nourishment it needs.

Before you decide to make your own skincare routine, you have to know what are the kinds of skin products. It will make things easier when you go shopping for them. Let’s tackle them one-by-one so that you can understand each function of skin products.

Every skin type needs to be moisturized, even the oily skin! Moisturizers can make the skin feel smoother and softer. Look for the moisturizer that contains UV filter. It also serves as a barrier for the skin’s moisture to prevent the skin from drying or losing natural moisture.

Cream Cleansers

The cream cleansers are suitable for dry skins, it contains oils to help dissolve those stubborn eye makeups that cannot be removed by washing it with soap and water.

 

Face Masks

The face masks have different kinds of use base on your skin types. There is for dry skin which is the hydration, removes excess oils for oily skins etc. It can also boost moisture levels for your skin.

Night Creams

The night creams supply moisture to your face, it keeps your skin hydrated. It has thick consistency because you don’t have to apply makeup over it. It is designed to pamper your skin while you are sleeping.

Exfoliators and Facial Scrubs

The facial scrubs and exfoliators help remove deep-seated dirt dead skins making your skin soft and smooth. But don’t scrub or exfoliate frequently it can damage the elasticity of your skin.
